Potato Stuffed Bread Balls.. toasted not fried

I generally hesitate to deep fry bread as it sucks loads of oil. But fried bread has this crunchy and soft texture which I love. Last week when I tried the cheesy bread balls I knew that I would never repeat deep frying bread in the near future. So came up with this method of toasting the bread balls in a paniyaram pan. Was not equivalent to the deep fried ones but was no less in taste too. It was crunchy, well toasted, not oily and soft in the inside.

~*What U Need*~
Potato - 1(large)
Garam masala - 1/4 tsp
Chat masala - 1/4 tsp
Tomato sauce - 1 tbsp
Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp
Salt

Bread slices - 6
Water - to dip
Oil

How I Made it:
Pressure cook the potato for 3 whistles. Peel off the skin and mash well. Add the garam masala, chat masala, tomato sauce, chilli powder and salt (adjust according to taste).
Dip the bread slices in water for 1 second. Squeeze out the excess water and flatten it. Place a generous amount of the potato masala mixture in the center, close the edges and roll into balls.
Heat paniyaaram pan, add oil. Now drop in the bread balls and toast till evenly brown. Alternatively you can deep fry in oil also.

Serve hot with ketchup.

  14. This is great as a snack... Dip the bread in egg or flour batter, roll in bread crumbs (just like you do for for cutlets)and then deep fry... It wont absorb too much Oil...
