Semiya Uppuma

I always have a pack of semiya in my pantry. Just in case I turn late from office anyday I find this recipe to be handy all the time. Its a simple, tasty and easy recipe too.
Now onto the recipe...

~* Ingredients *~

Roasted Vermicelli - 1 packet
Mustard seeds - 1/2 teaspoon
Urad dhal - 1 teaspoon
Chopped onion - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon
Water - 1 1/2 cups
Curry leaves
Grated coconut - 1/4 cup (Optional)
The Making:
Add oil to a hot pan. When the oil is hot, add in the mustard seeds. When the seeds have popped, add in the curry leaves. Add the chopped onions. Once the onions turn transparent / glassy, add water and allow it to come to a boil. Once the water starts boiling, add the roasted vermicelli. Add the grated coconut after 2 mins. Put on the lid. After 5 mins, check on the uppuma. The uppuma is all done when the water has gone and the vermicelli is non sticky...

Serve hot with sugar... We had it with toasted peanuts... :)
