Ya you heard it right. My Culinary Trial Room turns "1" this month. What started as a personal journal has now flourished and has a minimum of 200 pageviews everyday. Thanks to all my blogger friends who have been visiting regularly and encouraging me with their valuable comments.
When I first ventured into the blogging world, my first post hardly got any comments and I was devastated. Thanks to my huss who encouraged me even then. As time passed the blog gained momentum. Readers increased and so did the hits.
I always wanted to blog but never did I think that I would blog about food, precisely cooking and more precisely my own cooking. As every girl of this century does, I ventured into the kitchen only after marriage and with the sole purpose of impressing my huss. Then came the purpose of noting down the ingredients and steps. Recipes written on bit papers, print-outs of recipes were strewn all through my room. That was when I started organising them in a diary... The count of diaries increased and that is when I got introduced to food blogs and the thought of starting my own food blog. I put out the thought to my huss and he told me to go with it. Born My culinary trial room.
I wanted to celebrate my baby's birthday with a give-away but with the 3 months break, I didn't feel complete. However I would definitely come-up with a give-away announcement by the end of this month. Stay Tuned.
So now for the celebrations, I made this simple Kalakand with Hershey's chocolate syrup. It was sweet, chocolaty and so yummy.
Milk - 2 + 2 cups
Lime juice - 1 tbsp
Sugar - 1/4 cup(adjust)
Hershey's Choco syrup - 4-5 tbsps(adjust)
Nuts for garnishing (optional)
How I Made it:
Boil 2 cups of milk, add lime juice and heat till the milk curdles. Pour into a muslin cloth and show it under running water to remove the lime juice taste. Squeeze excess moisture and hang the cloth for 30 minutes to remove remaining moisture.
Bring the remaining 2 cups of milk to a boil in a heavy bottomed vessel. Reduce heat to low and allow the milk to 1/4 of its volume.
Crumble the prepared paneer and add to the reduced milk. Keep stirring until the mixture comes together.
Add sugar and the chocolate syrup. The mixture will get watery again. Keep stirring until it forms a thick dough.
Pour the mixture onto a buttered paper. Garnish with nuts of ur choice, dust with choco powder and slice the kalakand after it cools down.
Yummy kalakand ready.
