First, heart felt wishes and thanks to all the dear moms in this universe.
Second, Thanks to my mom and all moms for all the love that you have been showering. Saying a simple thanks is not enough but we have no other words to put in for all tthe sacrifices that you have done.
I dedicate this post to my mom who has been my BEST friend, my teacher, my well wisher and my mentor.
To my mom who has been with me in all my ups and downs and who has guided me in the right path with her timely pats and advises.
To my mom whom I miss a lot on this day
To my mom though miles away, who is just in the distance of a heartbeat.
To my mom who loves donuts and who orders a chocolate donut whenever we go to Coffee day. Yes, she adores, loves donuts and so I made a trial batch to check how it comes out so that I can make her some when she visits me next time.
I will try this again so that when my mom comes I will be able to give her some perfect doughnuts. :)
All purpose flour(Maida) - 1 1/4 cup
Fresh yeast - 2 tsps
Milk - 1/4 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Butter - 1 tbsp
Powdered sugar - 1 tbsp
Salt - a pinch
Vanilla essence - 1/2 tsp
Dark chocolate chips - 1 cup
Honey - 2 tbsp (optional)
Heavy cream - 1/4 cup
Vanilla essence - 1/2 tsp
Colored sugar balls - to decorate
Warm water and add yeast and sugar to it. Leave it untouched till the mixture starts frothing. Then mix well till the yeast dissolves.
Combine flour, powdered sugar, vanilla essence, milk and the yeast mixture together. Knead into a soft dough.
Bring the butter to room temperature and mix it to the dough
Knead again till the dough is smooth and elastic.
Place the dough in a bowl and cover with wet cloth. Leave it untouched until the dough doubles in size.
Press the dough lightly to remove air and knead softly.
Now roll out the dough to quarter inch thickness on a well floured surface.
Cut out the desired shape and allow it to double again.
Heat oil in a pan.
Fry the donuts in hot oil on medium flame till it turns golden brown in color. Allow to cool.
My dough was a bit watery and hence I dropped blobs of batter into oil and fried them.
Melt the chocolate chips in a double boiler along with the cream, honey and vanilla essence. I added honey to give the sheen but this is optional.
When melted, combine the mixture thoroughly.
Dip the cooled doughnut in the chocolate ganache, sprinkle colored sugarballs on top and serve...
Kids, adults anyone will love it...
