Urad dhal - 1 teaspoon
Chopped onion - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tablespoons
Turmeric powder - 1/4 teaspoon

Grated coconut - 1/4 cup (Optional)
The Making:Add oil to a hot pan. When the oil is hot, add in the mustard seeds. When the seeds have popped, add in the curry leaves. Add the chopped onions. Once the onions turn transparent / glassy, add water and allow it to come to a boil. Once the water starts boiling, add the roasted vermicelli. Add the grated coconut after 2 mins. Put on the lid. After 5 mins, check on the uppuma. The uppuma is all done when the water has gone and the vermicelli is non sticky...
